Traffic congestion is a top concern in Henry County. Clayton’s past work includes advocating for road improvements as SPLOST V Chair and he is familiar with Georgia DOT projects in Henry County.
He is best-suited to advocate for the county’s roadways and seek additional project funding. His major priorities include congestion relief along I-75, state routes 42 and 155.
Clayton has built strong relationships with local leadership over the last five years. He is running to partner with local governments, but also make changes where necessary to improve government cooperation.
Clayton supports bills that clean up existing city limits so service delivery can be more efficient for residents. He also supports creating community improvement districts and updating impact fees in Henry County.
Clayton is not only a product of Henry County public schools, but presently serves on the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Clayton will work with Henry County Schools to share their concerns and priorities at the state level.
The state plays a major role in funding public schools in Georgia. Clayton supports fully funding the quality basic education act year-to-year. He also supports updating QBE to better reflect today’s expenses in technology and transportation.
Henry County has seen over 5,000 new jobs locate here since 2020. Clayton will work with state and local partners to continue the strong momentum. He supports the continued expansion of Southern Crescent Technical College in McDonough.
Senate Bill 202 ensures Georgians have ample opportunities to vote, while protecting the security of their ballot. Clayton supports photo ID laws for all ballots. He intends to support local election offices and ensure they have the tools necessary to run elections.
Clayton is a strong supporter of police officers and firefighters. He supports pay raises for first responders.
State House District 117 represents portions of Henry and Spalding Counties. Communities in house district 117 include Locust Grove, Luella, Lake Dow, Heron Bay and Sun City Peachtree. The east side of McDonough is also in the district.
House District 117 is home to McDonough High School, Locust Grove High School, Luella High School and Ola High School.
